Math Ninja — Privacy Policy

How the Math Ninja app handles your family's data — designed for kids, built with privacy first.

Read Policy

Effective date: May 08, 2026

This policy applies only to the Math Ninja mobile application published by Beewist on Google Play and the Apple App Store. It is separate from our website privacy policy, which governs beewist.com and our B2B services.

Plain-language summary

  • Math Ninja collects no personal information from you or your children.
  • All data — your child's profile name, scores, progress, mastery, flashcard history — is stored only on your device.
  • The app cannot access the internet. It has no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party tracking SDKs.
  • The only personal data that ever leaves your device is what you choose to send when you tap "Email Us" for support — that goes through your own email app.
  • The optional Math Ninja Plus subscription is processed by Google Play or Apple's App Store, not by us. Beewist never sees your payment details.

The rest of this document explains the above in the formal language required by COPPA, GDPR, and the Google Play Families Policy.

1. Who we are

Beewist (referred to as "we", "us", or "Beewist") is the publisher of Math Ninja. We are based in Redlands, California, United States. The app is designed and developed in-house.

2. Information Math Ninja does not collect

By design, Math Ninja does not request, collect, transmit, or store any of the following types of information:

  • Personal identifiers (name, address, email, phone number, account login)
  • Persistent device or advertising identifiers (Android Advertising ID, IDFA, IMEI)
  • Geolocation data (precise or approximate)
  • Photos, audio recordings, or video
  • Contacts, calendar, microphone, or camera content
  • Browsing or usage analytics, performance telemetry, or crash reports sent automatically
  • Behavioral or interest-based profiling data

The app is technically incapable of transmitting any data: it does not request the Android INTERNET permission and contains no networking code or third-party SDKs that could access the network.

3. Information stored locally on your device

Math Ninja stores the following information on your device only. None of it is transmitted to Beewist or to any third party:

  • Child profile name (e.g. "Sara") — chosen by the parent during setup
  • Selected grade level
  • Game progress, stars, achievements, and stickers earned
  • Skill mastery records, flashcard review history, mistake-queue entries
  • Avatar customization choices, unlocked items
  • App preferences (theme, sound, time-limit settings)
  • Local notification reminder schedule

Uninstalling the app deletes all of this data permanently. The "Reset progress" option in Settings clears it without uninstalling.

4. Children's privacy (COPPA)

Math Ninja is explicitly designed for children under the age of 13 and is intended to comply with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the Google Play Families Policy.

Because we collect no personal information from any user — including no information from children — verifiable parental consent under COPPA is not required for the app's core educational features. Parents nevertheless retain full control:

  • Parent gate: sensitive areas (settings, parent dashboard, subscription page) require a parent PIN before access.
  • In-app purchases parent-gated: all premium subscription purchases are routed behind the parent gate or the platform's own purchase confirmation.
  • No external links to children: Math Ninja does not present web links, ads, or chat surfaces to child users.
  • Local-only data: no parental access requests are needed because the data never leaves the device — parents can view, reset, or delete it directly through the app's profile management screen.

5. EU/UK users (GDPR & GDPR-K)

For users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, the same principles apply: Math Ninja processes no personal data on Beewist's servers because no personal data is transmitted off the device. Local on-device storage is processed solely on the basis of legitimate interest in providing the requested educational service, the data never leaves your control, and you may delete it at any time by uninstalling the app or clearing app data through your device settings.

Where users are children under the age of 16 (or the lower threshold in your country), the same rules in Section 4 apply: no personal data is collected; parental consent is not required for the app to function, but parents retain full control through the parent gate and on-device reset options.

6. Advertising

Math Ninja contains no advertising of any kind — no banner ads, no interstitials, no rewarded video, no sponsored content, no cross-promotions to third-party apps, and no behavioral or contextual ad SDKs.

7. In-app purchases

Math Ninja offers an optional premium subscription, Math Ninja Plus, that unlocks additional features such as printable worksheets, detailed parent reports, expanded customization, and per-skill statistics.

  • All purchases are processed by Google Play Billing (Android) or the Apple App Store (iOS). These platforms handle payment information directly; Beewist does not see, store, or process your payment details.
  • Purchase flows are placed behind a parent gate to prevent unintended purchases by children.
  • To manage or cancel a subscription, use your Google Play or App Store account settings.

Google's and Apple's own privacy policies govern how they handle the payment data you provide them. We have no access to it.

8. Permissions used

Math Ninja requests only the minimum Android (or iOS) permissions needed for its stated educational features:

  • Vibration — for tactile feedback on correct/incorrect answers.
  • Post notifications — for optional daily practice reminders, scheduled locally on the device.
  • Schedule exact alarm — used to deliver the local practice reminder at the chosen time.
  • Receive boot completed — to re-arm the local reminder alarm after a phone restart.

Notably, Math Ninja does not request internet, location, contacts, microphone, camera, or storage permissions.

9. Support communications

Math Ninja includes a "Send crash report" / "Email support" feature. Tapping it opens your own email app with a pre-filled message that may include a local crash log file. You decide what to send and can edit or delete the message before sending. If you choose to email us at support@beewist.com, your email address and the contents of your message become known to us and are retained only as long as needed to assist you.

10. Data sharing

Because Math Ninja does not collect personal data, we have no app-derived personal data to share. We do not sell, rent, or trade any user information to advertisers, brokers, or third parties.

11. Security

Because no personal data is transmitted off the device, the primary security controls are Android's and iOS's built-in app sandboxing, which prevents other apps from accessing the locally-stored data files. We additionally use platform-provided encryption APIs for any sensitive locally-stored values (e.g. parent PIN).

12. Changes to this policy

If we add a new feature that materially changes how Math Ninja handles data (for example, an optional cloud sync), we will update this policy and update the "Effective date" at the top. Material changes will also be surfaced through an in-app notice before the new feature is enabled.
